We have celebrated a lot of milestones over the years. Yesterday the
milestone we celebrated was the 90th birthday of my mother. The fact
that I still have both my parents when I am almost 60 years old myself
is pretty amazing. Amazing is also a word I would use to describe my
mother. She is one of the kindest people I know. She keeps to herself
and I really have never heard her say anything bad about anyone...and if
I ever said something that was anything less than kind, I got
"Pam"...in that tone! It must have worked. I try to be kind always!
Mom
didn't want an open house or really a party of any kind. We did have a
luncheon with a few family members. The food was great! Catered by
Patty Fabish! The cakes were great! Baked by Beth Bee! The company
was wonderful! Thanks to all who came.
A
couple of years ago, when my Dad turned 90, I made a "Letters to Lloyd"
book made from letters and pictures of people who knew my dad over the
years. He loved it and still looks at it on a regular basis. I decided
to make a book for my mother..."Memories for Mom". As I thought she
would, Mom loved her book. Mom and I would both like to thank everyone
who participated, making the book possible. I had a couple of calls
today asking if it were too late to contribute. My answer was
absolutely not! I will add anything that comes our way. So, if you
missed the messages I placed on the internet the instructions were
easy. If you have a birthday wish for or a memory of my mom, please
email it to me at pamdfischer@gmail.com
or mail to 3786 Route #155, Port Allegany, PA 16743. Add a photo of
you or you and your family that we can put in the book with your
message. Again, thanks to everyone who participated.
Before
all of the birthday stuff, I went to the Gators Senior Night. Another
wonderful ceremony! Booster groups are great and do a lot to honor our
athletes. I, for one, appreciate their hard work. These things -
senior nights and banquets - seem to happen without a hitch making it
seem as though it is not hard to pull off such an event. I know how
hard groups work. So, congratulations to all our winter sports athletes
and to the parents and booster groups who support them.
Our Valentine Dinner at church was postponed till next Sunday. As much as I was looking forward to that dinner, I was glad I didn't have to go back out again. Saturday
afternoon we went to pay our respects to Frank Switzer, Sr. I always
liked Frank. He liked to pick on me...but that was ok because I
understand he picked on the people he liked. I told Vivian he must have
liked me a lot! Frank will surely be missed! Our sympathies go to his
family.
Be kind to one another!
