Marjorie Jean Petzold, Grandmother



Marjorie Jean Petzold, 79, of Hillside Ave., passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday (Feb. 20, 2015) in Dana Point, CA, while vacationing with her family and with her husband by her side.
    
Born January 24, 1936, in Newmansville, PA, she was a daughter of Russell and Dorothy Daum. On Sept. 13, 1958, in Oil City, PA, she married James R. Petzold, who survives. They moved to Port Allegany in 1959, and were married 56 years.
    
Marjorie was a graduate of Oil City High School, Class of 1953, and from Clarion University, in 1957, with a BS degree in Elementary education. She taught 1st grade in Warren, PA for a year and a half and later worked individually with several special needs students.
       
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, and past secretary, and a member of the United Methodist Women, Anna-Oral Circle and secretary, member of the Friends of the S.W. Smith Library and secretary, member of the Friends bridge and 500 clubs series; member of several bridge clubs; Port Allegany Garden Club; and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Port Allegany Senior Center.  Her interests were cross-stitching, flowers, reading, puzzles, playing games, traveling and visiting her children.
    
Surviving in addition to her husband, James are three sons, Jeffrey (Loreline) Petzold, Mark (Karen) Petzold, David (Diane) Petzold; two daughters, Pamela Petzold, Lynn Petzold; and three grandchildren: Dustin, Andreas and Louis Petzold.
    
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Russell, stepfather, Wilbur Dahle; and a brother, Rev. Roger Daum.
    
Marjorie’s final loving wish was to donate her body to medical research upon death.  She was a donor to the Willed Body Program at University of Irvine Medical Center, Irvine, CA.
    
A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, at a later date to be announced.
    
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
    
Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
