Geraldine L. Nelson, PAHS Class of 1949

Geraldine L. Nelson, 83, of Hillside Ave., passed away Friday (Feb. 13, 2015).
      

Born August 13, 1931, she was a daughter of Geraldine L. NelsonC. Harry and Elena Linquist Johnson. On Oct. 4, 1952, in Port Allegany, she married Philip R. Nelson, who died Sept. 13, 2007.
    

Geraldine was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1949.  She was a bookkeeper with the First National Bank of Port Allegany.
    

She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany and the Lutheran Church Women.
    

Surviving are a son, Roger P. (Cathy) Nelson of Port Allegany; a daughter, Nanette E. Rose of Pearland, TX; and five grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
      

Private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.  A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2015) in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
    

Memorials can be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Port Area Ambulance Service, or a charity of the donor’s choice.  
    

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
