Due to the City of
Bradford water main break, officials at the University of Pittsburgh at
Bradford on Tuesday morning canceled all classes and closed the campus for the
remainder of the week, Feb. 24 through March 1.
Also at that time,
officials encouraged students who were able to travel home, or whose parents
were able to come get them, to do so. Officials anticipate classes will resume
on Monday, March 1, and expect students to return to campus in time for their Monday
classes.
“The health, safety
and welfare of our students are our highest concern,” said Dr. Livingston
Alexander, Pitt-Bradford’s president. “Therefore, we canceled classes and
closed the campus for the remainder of the week.
“However, we know not
all of the 900 students living on campus will be able to return home, so we
will provide a full range of services to ensure the health and welfare of our
students.”
For those students
who remain on campus, dining services will provide meals during its normal
hours, though a limited menu will be offered considering the circumstances.
Additionally, employees from Metz Culinary Management, which provides the
dining services on campus, are following food-safety protocols. Additionally,
as always, campus police officers will continue to patrol the campus 24/7.
