Domestic violence and a burglary
contrasted with an unwanted valentine, vehicle lockouts and a fender-bender, in
matters handled by Port Allegany Police in the week that began Monday, February
16.
Last Monday at 8
a.m. Chief Dave Distrola was contacted
about vehicles left on a property that had been bought from the county
repository. The issue is being pursued.
Last Tuesday at 11 a.m. Distrola was
told about a car that may have been keyed the previous night while parked on
Pearl Street.
At 11:30 a.m. Distrola received a
report about an unwanted valentine that had been received at a local business.
The sender was contacted and advised not to attempt further contact.
At 3:05 p.m. Distrola received a
complaint about a hit-and-run that had occurred at the intersection of Mill
Street and Main Street. The caller indicated that the vehicle that had hit her
vehicle pulled over but she did not stop because no parking space was
available. The caller was advised to contact her insurance company.
At 7:10 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner
assisted someone whose car was stuck on Mill Street. After considerable effort
the vehicle was dislodged from a snow bank.
Wednesday at 2
p.m. Distrola responded to a report of a
vehicle that had struck a fire hydrant near the exit from the high school
parking lot. Juanita Knell, of Route 155 North, had braked while preparing to
turn right, from Arnold Avenue onto Oak Street, and had slid forward across
both lanes of traffic, and into the fire hydrant. Knell’s Honda sedan received
moderate damage but was driven from the scene. Knell and a passenger were
uninjured.
Thursday at 12:10
p.m. Distrola assisted a motorist with a
vehicle lockout on Main Street.
At 5 p.m. Officer Jason Strawcutter helped a
motorist unlock a car on Main Street.
Friday at 10
a.m. Distrola was at magisterial District
Judge William Todd’s office to stand by for the arraignment of Jake Tarr, who
had been arrested by Kane Police on a felony warrant charging statutory sexual
assault.
At 4:30 p.m. Distrola helped with
another vehicle lock-out situation.
Saturday at 6:40 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson helped with a
vehicle lockout on Katherine Street.
Sunday at 12:08 a.m. Dickerson arrested Gordon Link Sr.,
45, of 56 Pearl Street, for domestic violence. Link allegedly assaulted Chelsie
Dahlke, 26, while at that address. Available information indicates that Link
had returned home intoxicated and had begun slapping and punching Dahlke. He
also is alleged to have dragged her through the house by her hair. Then the
incident shifted to the front porch where Link is alleged to have continued the
assault. Link was arraigned before Judge Todd and jailed on $7,500 straight
bail.
At 9:30 a.m. Officer Kyle Day responded
to a report of a burglary at a Chestnut Street residence. The caller reported
that a forced entry had taken place and three Sentry safes had been removed.
The caller also said that several items had been returned after the complainant
had contacted the suspected perpetrator. Investigation continues.
