Donna E.
McGarvey, 85, of S. Pine St., passed away Friday (Feb. 20, 2015) in Sena Kean
Manor with her family at her side.
Born August
3, 1929, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Lawrence D. and Florence A.
DeLong Manning. On Aug. 6, 1949, in Port Allegany, she married Robert D.
McGarvey, who died Apr. 15, 2006.
Donna had
worked at the former Cameo Doll Factory, and also with North Penn Gas Co. both
of Port Allegany.
She was a
lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School,
Class of 1947. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church,
Port Allegany, and enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving
are four sons, Robert L. “Buck” (Penny) McGarvey, Richard D. “Rich” (Sandy)
McGarvey, Ronald V. “Hippy” (Stephanie) McGarvey all of Port Allegany, Russell
D. (Lola Freer) McGarvey of Turtlepoint; a daughter, Rhonda F. (Mark) Hepfer of
Gifford, PA; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry D.
Manning; a sister, Jean A. Johnson of Portville, NY; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, two grandchildren, Gabriel
and Denise McGarvey; and two brothers, Dean A. and Lyle B. Manning.
Friends
will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home,
Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Feb.
25, 2015) with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials
can be made to the First Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
