There are so many things to write about this week...
First - congrats to Logan Pearsall for bringing home gold
medals from the World....I said World Diving Championships. I got to
visit with Logan briefly when he made a quick stop home on his way to Colorado
where he will coach the dive team at Colorado Mesa University. He is also
going back to school to study nursing. Good luck to him!
Congrats also to Hannah Ernst for so wonderfully
representing her school and community as Miss Port Allegany at the McKean
County Fair.
If you're in town Sunday afternoon, be sure to stop by the
Moose Family Center, the First Baptist Church or Lynn Hall to help raise funds
for Jenna Martin's World Race mission trip. There are some pretty
creative events going on that will benefit Jenna's efforts as she does mission
work in twelve countries in twelve months. Thanks to the Moose Family
Center, the First Baptist Church and Lynn Hall for hosting these events.
There is sure to be something to appeal to everyone!
Last week I wrote of the passing of John Borowski...an
amazing 96-year old who was once a neighbor of mine...and now another former
neighbor, Chuck Boller has passed. I had intended to focus this column
with memories of Chuck, but instead did a separate piece for him including a few
memories from some of his children. I hope you all take a moment to read
about Chuck and his contributions to the community.
I imagine people are getting ready for school....finishing
their back-to-school shopping and getting into their school routines. Hopefully
it won't take long to get us all back into the swing of things. Please be
careful while driving especially during before and after school hours...kids
get excited and distracted and aren't always watching as carefully as they
should. Drivers need to be extra cautious!
Good luck to the students, teachers, staff and
administration of the Port Allegany School District as a new school year
approaches. Watch PAO for school news as well as the Port Allegany School
District Website and their Facebook Page. The information is kept up to
date which has made my life so much easier!
Although I haven't heard anything yet, I'm sure it's getting
to be that time to start looking for what you can donate to the annual S. W.
Smith Library Dinner Auction. The event will take place on November 8th -
so mark your calendars and come up with some wonderful donations to help our
library. If you were at the library on Wednesdays during the summer, you
would have seen an amazing number of children taking advantage of all the
library has to offer.
Have a good week...and be kind to one another!
