
To earn their Silver Awards, the girls completed 61 hours. Each girl worked with members of the community to complete a total of 60 bat houses. Bat houses were built to provide safe housing for bats so they can continue to control the pest population. Several bat houses were placed in the National Forest in McKean and Cameron Counties. Some have made the way into New York state and as far as Virginia.
Lorelei Smith is the daughter of Mara Smith. Brandy Lathrop is the daughter of Cheryl Lathrop. Leaders of their troop are Julie Lathrop and Shirley Bigley.
A reception was held in the Fellowship Hall following the ceremony.
