Robert E. Lovell, Navy Veteran



Robert E. Lovell, 83, of Route 155S, passed away unexpectedly Thursday (Oct. 24, 2013) in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
    
Born November 4, 1929, in Liberty Township, PA, he was a son of Raymond and Louise Westfall Lovell.  On Jan. 25, 1974, he married Myrtle J. Wilcox, who survives.  
    
Robert was employed with Penelec as a lineman for 38 years, retiring in 1990.
    
He was a veteran having served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
    
Mr. Lovell was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1947.  
    
He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Port Allegany.
    
Surviving in addition to his wife, Myrtle, are two daughters, Deborah J. Lovell Hammond of Olean, NY, Janine M. (Richard) Mathesz of Allentown, PA, two stepdaughters, Barbara Rushton and Linda Noonan both of Holly, CO; two stepsons, Robert (Rebecca) Upthegrove of Boulder, CO, and James Upthegrove of  Sallisaw, OK;  and  6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Scott.
    
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Saturday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 3, 2013) with Rev. Garen Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
    
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Port Area Ambulance Service.
