Robert F.
Cox, 90, of Meadow Lane, passed away Friday (Nov. 21, 2014) in the Mercy
Hospital, Buffalo, NY.
Born August
8, 1924, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Zera A. and Esther Rifle
Cox. On July 18, 1945, in Port Allegany, he married Barbara L. Ireland,
who died Oct. 3, 2007.
Robert was
a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High
School, Class of 1942.
Mr. Cox was
employed by Pittsburgh Corning Co., Port Allegany retiring in 1985, after 42
years of service.
He was a
veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army, as a corporal with B Battery,
20th Field Artillery Battalion.
Robert was
an avid baker having baked pies for many local residents.
Surviving
are a daughter, Donna S. (John) Niver of Port Allegany; a son, David M.
(Evelyn) Cox of Staatsburg, NY; three grandchildren, Sue Ann (David)
Boyles, Jodi (David) Wielder, and Tracy (David Lewis) Smith; three
great-grandchildren, Reecie Boyles and Madeline and Derek Smith; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara, and three brothers, Waldo J.
Cox, Zera A. Cox and Herbert Cox.
A private
committal and graveside service will be at the convenience of the
family. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lewis Run, PA.

Funeral
arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port
Allegany.
