Police Report 9/29 - 10/05

Port Allegany Police made arrests in connection with that fight at the Sheetz parking lot which had occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday, September 21. Suspicious activity in a cemetery led to a marijuana arrest. A pre-teen girl’s tantrum led to an apparently false claim of assault.

These and a variety of other matters kept Port Allegany Police busy in the week that began Monday, September 29.

Last Monday at 5:21 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner  executed an arrest warrant for Kyle Bonneau in connection with “an altercation involving a knife” at Main Street at Arnold Avenue early Sunday, September 21. Bonneau was arrested and released on unsecured bail.

At 9:15 p.m. Tanner arrested Christopher Taylor on a similar warrant based on the same incident. Taylor also was arraigned and released on unsecured bail.

At 10:00 p.m. Tanner arrested Triston Duell on a similar warrant related to the same incident. He too was arraigned and released on unsecured bail.

Last Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. Chief Dave Distrola attended a summary hearing for traffic violations at McKean County Central Court.

At 11:01 a.m. Distrola received a report that a woman was sleeping in her car in front of a local business. The vehicle and driver were gone when he got there.

At 12:17 p.m. Distrola received a report of a wallet having been turned in to the Bradford Police Department, identified as the property of Ryan Wells of a Port Allegany address. Distrola tried to contract Wells, but the address is a vacant building.

At 7:10 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson was dispatched to check on suspicious activity in the cemetery. He found Konner Kegarese, age 19, of Leroy, New York walking along Broad Street, in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. Charges are pending.

Thursday at 11:10 a.m. Distrola received a complaint about a possible scam involving a letter from the Secret Service. He investigated and found that the letter was authentic. It had to do with a possible identity theft case being investigated.

At 10:50 a.m. Distrola received a call from a concerned citizen about a parking issue near the rear parking lot of the Port Allegany Health Center. The health center director was contacted, and she indicated that she would look into the matter.

At 11:55 a.m. Loyd Taylor of Chestnut Street stopped at the station to see whether anyone had turned in eye glasses that may have been lost near Sheetz. No glasses had been turned in.

At 4:30 p.m. Dickerson arrested Jake Tarr, age 21, of 320 Janeway Street, Kane, formerly of 310 North Main Street, Port Allegany, on a charge of sexual abuse of children, based on an alleged admission that Tarr was sending and receiving explicit photos of himself and a 14-year-old female. Tarr was remanded to McKean County Jail on $20,000 straight bail.

Friday at 9:40 a.m. Dickerson and Distrola executed a search warrant on 310 North Main Street based on information that items stolen from cars were located at that address. Stolen property was found. Investigation continues; charges are pending.

At 2:04 p.m. Distrola was contacted by a male who was concerned that his ill father was missing his appointment with his doctor. The caller was advised to contact the ambulance service, and reminded that it is the family’s responsibility to see to transportation.

At 3:15 p.m. Distrola received a complaint of a vehicle having pulled out of the high school parking lot, cutting the complainant off. The plate number provided yielded a Tyrone address. The vehicle was not located.

Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Tanner received a request to look at a postal money order suspected to be counterfeit and part of a scam. Tanner advised the caller to turn the item in at the local post office to be forwarded to the postal inspector.

Sunday at 12:32 a.m. Tanner observed a black sedan parked in the no-parking zone on Mill Street. The vehicle had an expired registration and an expired inspection sticker. Tanner left a citation on the window of the sedan.

At 11:30 a.m. Officer William Wenzel responded to North Main Street for a report of an out-of-control child. He spoke with the 12-year-old, who was said to have mental health issues. The child calmed down, and the parents took her to a hospital for evaluation.

At 6:01 p.m. Tanner responded to a Maple Street address where the same child was reporting an assault. Tanner was told that the girl had not been assaulted, but had thrown a tantrum when the mother left the house earlier. A grandfather took the child home.
