Eleanore A.
Turner, 83, of Laurel Lane, passed away Sunday (Mar. 16, 2014) in the Robert
Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, as a result of injuries sustained in a fall.
Born Oct.
22, 1930, she was a daughter of Thomas and Berth Astle Kaziska. On
Nov. 1, 1947, in Port Allegany, she married H. Clayton Turner, who died Jan. 2,
2001. They were married 54 years.
Eleanore
was a lifetime resident of the area and attended the Port Allegany High School.
Mrs. Turner
had been a Bell Telephone operator in Port Allegany, Bradford, and Olean, NY,
for over 35 years, before her retirement.
She was a
member of the Telephone Pioneers, and enjoyed spending time with her
family. She loved to gamble at the Seneca Allegany Casino, and
also enjoyed bowling for many years.
Surviving
are a daughter, Lisa A. Turner of Port Allegany; a son, Howard C. “Rusty”
Turner of Washington, DC; two grandson, Zackary Turner of Bradford, Caleb
Turner of Port Allegany, a granddaughter, Daphne Daugherty of Port Allegany; and
two great-grand-children, Carson Tubbs and Quinn Turner; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, H. Clayton, a brother, Frank A.
Kaziska, and four sisters, Mary Lamont, Joyce Mead, Clara Mizzoni, and Delores
Weaver.
Friends
will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home,
Port Allegany, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Mar.
21, 2014) with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Port
Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Port Allegany.
