William T. “Bill”
McEnteer, 89, of Port Allegany, died Tuesday (March 18, 2014) in the Lakeview
Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
He was born Feb 26,
1925 in Tidal, a son of William J. and Mary I. Craig McEnteer. On November 11,
1955, in Bolivar, NY, he married Mary E. Spencer, who survives.
Mr. McEnteer was a
graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg, PA.
He was a signal
maintainer for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, NY Central
Railroad, and ultimately Conrail. He worked for the railroads for 42 years,
retiring in 1985.
Bill was a member of
the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, where he was a union representative for
29 years. He was also a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460.
Bill loved his
family, and enjoyed all family gatherings and events. He also enjoyed baseball,
reading about history, outdoor gardening, and watching television. Bill was a
great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Cheryl Brown of Port Allegany, Marilyn “Smooch” McEnteer of Tavares, FL, and
Patricia (Michael) Maynard of Port Allegany.

(Jacque) Brown, Kevin (Anissa) Brown, Heather Kio, Jennifer (Jerry) Ballinger,
Christian (Sue) Stevenson, Derek (Summer) Maynard, and Natalie Maynard

In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Sean Brown on June 24, 2005,
two sisters, Velma Rush and June Fitzgerald, and one brother, Jim Butler.
Visitation will be
held on Friday, March 21, from 2-4 and 6-8, at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes,
Inc., Port Allegany. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at
11 A.M., in the funeral home, with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port
Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating.
