Health And Wellness Fair To Be Held At Pitt-Bradford

Bradford, PA — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s annual Health and Wellness Fair will be held on April 11, 2013, from 11a.m. to 2p.m. in the Mukaiyama University Room in the Frame-Westerberg Commons.

More than 30 health and wellness providers will offer information, screenings and demonstrations. Pitt-Bradford’s Office of Student Health Services will sponsor the fair. Attendance is free of charge and open to the public. There will also be door prizes and giveaways.

Free tests include bone density screening by the Bradford Regional Medical Center’s School of Radiology, “healthy parameters” by UPMC Hamot’s Center for Healthy Living, body mass index analysis by Pitt-Bradford’s sports medicine program, sleep disorder screening by Bradford Regional Medical Center and alcohol screening by Pitt-Bradford Counseling Services. Blood glucose testing will be provided by BRMC Center for Diabetes and Nutrition.  BRMC McKean County VNA and Hospice and Community Nurses Inc. will both offer blood pressure screenings.

Lisa’s Hairport will offer paraffin hand dips. Other demonstrations include PennDOT’s impaired/distracted driving simulator, Bradford Therapeutic Massage and Body Resort’s chair massages and a Tai Chi demonstration by Confucius Institute Scholars Ada Huang and Lillian Zhang.

Other vendors will be podiatrist Dr. Gary Smith, Canticle Farm, Metz Culinary Management, McKean County Veterans’ Affairs, American Cancer Society, Pitt-Bradford’s Center for Rural Health Practice, MedCare, Fuhrman Chiropractic Center, Eye Care Professional Associates, Community Resources for Independence, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Foothills Medical Group, CORE -- Center for Organ Recovery and Education, Bradford Dental Center, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, BRMC Healthy Beginnings Plus, Pitt-Bradford’s Intramural and Recreational Sports, Pitt-Bradford Campus Police, The Pavilion at BRMC, Bradford Family YMCA, and the YWCA Victim’s Resource Center.
In addition, Pitt-Bradford student nurses will make presentations on various health topics.
