Robert R.
Brock, 83, of N. Main St., passed away Monday (Jun. 9, 2014) in Sweden Valley
Manor, Coudersport.
Born
December 8, 1930, in Olean, NY, he was a son of Ronald C. and Ruth Scott
Brock. On Oct. 14, 1951, in Front Royal, VA, he married Suzanne M.
Carter, who survives.
Robert was
a maintenance & services contract manager working for the Dept. of Defense,
retiring after 34 years of service.
He was a
veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the US Air Force.
Mr. Brock
was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Coudersport High School,
Class of 1948.
Robert was
a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, where he was a
former member of the church council. While serving in the US Air Force at
Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, he instituted Lutheran Sunday school classes
on base. He was also a life member of the National Rifle
Association.
Surviving
in addition to his wife, Suzanne, are a son, Scott A. (Mary) Brock of Bowie MD;
a daughter, Amy L. (William) Jennings of Kennesaw, GA; 6 grandchildren:
Christian and Stephen Brock, Molly Humphrey, Owen, and Rachel
Jennings, and Alice Miller; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, William J.
(Pearl) Brock of Hebron; two sisters, Joan (Grant) Hagen of St. Mary’s, PA,
Betty (Gary) Hardes of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara A. Duell.
Friends
will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port
Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (Jun.
12, 2014) in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery,
Coudersport.
