Robert R. Brock

Robert R. Brock, 83, of N. Main St., passed away Monday (Jun. 9, 2014) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
    

Born December 8, 1930, in Olean, NY, he was a son of Ronald C. and Ruth Scott Brock.  On Oct. 14, 1951, in Front Royal, VA, he married Suzanne M. Carter, who survives.  
    

Robert was a maintenance & services contract manager working for the Dept. of Defense, retiring after 34 years of service.
    

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the US Air Force.  
    

Mr. Brock was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1948.  
    

Robert was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, where he was a former member of the church council. While serving in the US Air Force at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, he instituted Lutheran Sunday school classes on base.   He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association.
    

Surviving in addition to his wife, Suzanne, are a son, Scott A. (Mary) Brock of Bowie MD; a daughter, Amy L. (William) Jennings of Kennesaw, GA; 6 grandchildren: Christian and Stephen Brock, Molly Humphrey,  Owen, and Rachel Jennings, and Alice Miller; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, William J. (Pearl) Brock of Hebron; two sisters, Joan (Grant) Hagen of St. Mary’s, PA, Betty (Gary) Hardes of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
    

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara A. Duell.
    

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.  A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (Jun. 12, 2014) in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Coudersport.
