Councilman Button seeks cleanup input / By Martha Knight

Eric Button brought up a topic at this month’s borough council meeting that he would like to explore with other community members wanting to weigh in: Would an annual borough-wide cleanup day, with the borough providing or arranging for collection of bulky discards, be a welcome service?

Such events are held in other communities, Button pointed out. Although he did not mention it, Port Allegany also used to have “large trash” days, when locals could set furniture, appliances, and other items that would not fit into the garbage, by the street, to be picked up.

Button said he would welcome the input of community residents and businesses, which he would compile and then share with the borough council at a future meeting.

Those wishing to express their opinions on the topic are invited to call Button at 642-2267, or to email him at button2413@verizon.net.
