Pitt-Bradford presents 'Italian American Reconciliation'

BRADFORD, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Division of Communication and the Arts will present “Italian American Reconciliation” this weekend, a romantic comedy by the writer of “Moonstruck.”

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Studio Theater in Blaisdell Hall.

The play by John Patrick Shanley reflects many of the bold Italian characters introduced in his revered screenplay for “Moonstruck.” Also set in Little Italy, this particular romp follows the story of Huey Maximilian Bonfigliano, as told by his best friend, Aldo Scalicki. Huey has a problem: While he is safely divorced from his shrewish first wife, Janice, he feels he cannot regain his “manhood” until he woos and wins her one more time. He enlists the aid of Aldo, a confirmed bachelor who tries, without apparent success, to convince Huey that he would be better off sticking with his new lady friend, Teresa.

Directed by Vanessa Webb, visiting instructor of theater, the production will feature Matty Tuzynski, an interdisciplinary arts major from Clarks Mills as Aldo Scalicki; James Segee, a writing major from Bradford, as Huey Maximilian Bonfigliano; Danielle Scott, a history-political science major from Altadena, Calif., as Teresa; Love Lee, a broadcast communications major from Upper Darby as Aunt May; and Delaney Held, a public relations major from Erie, as Janice. Assistant director is Trina Sorenson, a broadcast communications and business management major from Corry. Stage manager and props mistress is Alana Stewart, a public relations major from Powder Springs, Ga. William Campbell, a broadcast communications and writing major from Silver Spring, Md., Tariye George-Phillips, an interdisciplinary arts major from Washington, D.C., and Jah Wilson, a broadcast communications major from Coatesville, make up the crew.

Tickets are $6 for the public and $2 for all students. They may be purchased in advance by calling the Bromeley Family Theater Box Office at (814) 362-5113 or at the door.
