Dennis L. Wilfong, PAHS Class of '73



Dennis L. Wilfong, 59, of Route 6, passed away Wednesday (Apr. 16, 2014) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
      
Born March 15, 1955, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Willard H. and Carol Shelley Wilfong.  
      
Dennis was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1973.
      
Mr. Wilfong was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the US Marines.  
      
He was employed with Bruce Galford Logging for several years.
    
Dennis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all enjoyed being with his family.  
    
Surviving in addition to his mother Carol Galford of Port Allegany are his lifetime companion, Connie Allen, with whom he resided, three sons, Dennis L. Wilfong, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Justin (Nicole) Wilfong and Jason Wilfong both of Bradford, a stepson, Tim (Debbie) Allen of South Bend, IN; three stepdaughters, Tina (Ron) Wilfong and Shelly (Luke Perkins) Kellogg both of Port Allegany, Cherry (Pat) Hoffman of Jackson, MO; four brothers, Ronald E. (Tina) Wilfong and Robert W. Wilfong both of Port Allegany, William “Bill” (Sharon) Wilfong of Rockford, IL, Bruce C. Galford, Jr. of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Linda S. (Roger) Sharp of Buckeye, WV, Debra E. (Marlin) Appleby and Abby G. Galford both of Port Allegany, and Marie S. (Robert) Haefner of Lewisburg, PA; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children.
    
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard, and stepfather, Bruce C. Galford.
      
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday (Apr. 19, 2014) in the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor, officiating.
    
Memorials can be made to the S.W. Smith Library or a charity of the donor’s choice.
    
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
