The Star Hose Company Banquet was held Saturday, March 1
at the Port Allegany Fire Hall. Master of Ceremonies was Alex Johnson,
President of the group. He introduced other business officers as
follows: Vice President James Rankin Jr, Treasurer Thomas
Johnson, Financial Secretary Michael Johnson, Secretary Barb Neilson.
Line
Officers were announced by Fire Chief Fred Roys. Deputy Chief Kevin
Ernst, Assistant Chief Michael Johnson, Captain Alex Johnson, Captain
Andrew Johnson, Lieutenant Lucas Johnson and Lieutenant Nathan Kio.
Those earning service awards
included 1st year - Randy Andreano and Dan Roche; 5 years - KaSandra
Goodrich; 10 years - Eric Button; 15 years - Nathan Kio; and 45 Years -
Bruce Manning.
Mayor George
Riley was the guest speaker. Riley, who came from a fire fighting
family, told a few humorous stories. He thanked the firemen for their
service to the community and said he always tells his students that it
is important to "give back" and because he wanted to do just that, he
ran for mayor.
Several special presentations were made - the first was
from the Dana Bachman Family. Debbie Bachman gave a donation to the
Ambulance Service which was accepted by Jason Stake. She also presented
a plaque to the Fire Department thanking them for the love and support
they showed her late husband, former Fire Chief, Dana Bachman.
Another was from firefighter Jeremy Barnard who presented
a painting to the members of the Port Allegany Fire Department to thank
the group for their love and support during his recent illness. The
painting was created by Clarissa Burford.
A presentation was made to Debbie Bachman and her family
in memory of their former Chief. A solar light, created by Dave Hobbs,
was presented to the family.
The Sigfred G. "Sig"
Anderson Training Award was presented to Randy Andreano for his
dedication to training in the spirit embodied by Sig Anderson. Andreano
acquired the most hours of training with the company during the past
year.
The dinner was catered by Fox's and served by members of
the Bachman family and members of the Eldred Fire Department. DJ for
