Vehicles damaged each other in a couple of incidents, and at
least one couple, said to be married, weren’t getting along in another
incident, as Port Allegany Police carried out their duties in the week that
began Monday, February 10.
Last Monday at 12:30 p.m. Chief Dave Distrola received a
complaint of a vehicle parked in front of a driveway on Mill Street. The call
was referred to the next shift.
At 3:20 p.m. Distrola was dispatched to Rite Aid where there
had been a minor collision. Dorwin Knapp backed his Suzuki SX4 out of the
parking lot and into the front bumper of a Ford Bronco driven by Jennifer Peck.
The Suzuki sustained minor damage to the right front wheel; the Bronco got a
scratch on a front bumper. The vehicles were drivable. The operators were
advised to exchange insurance information.
At 9 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson issued a citation in
connection with the 12:30 p.m. parking matter.
Last Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Dickerson assisted a motorist by
unlocking a vehicle at the Port Allegany Elementary School.
At 5 p.m. Dickerson dealt with three juveniles who had been
reported to be approaching vehicles at the intersection of North Main Street
and Route 6, dressed in camo. They were startling drivers. Dickerson warned the
juveniles and informed the parents.
Last Wednesday at 11:22 a.m. Distrola received a complaint
of dogs running at large on Mill Street. The complainant identified the dogs as
belonging to a neighbor. The neighbor claimed the dogs running loose in the
area belonged to someone else.
Friday at 9:04 a.m. Distrola received a complaint of vehicle
damage at a North Main St. address. The complainant said the damage may have
been caused by a person visiting next door, where a neighbor and the
complainant shared a driveway. Distrola was unable to contact the neighbor
despite making several attempts. The damage was said to have occurred between
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
At 8:18 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner gave lift assistance to
ambulance staff at a North Main Street address.
At 8:30 p.m. Tanner helped with traffic control while the
Port Allegany Fire Department dealt with a chimney fire at an Ann Street
dwelling.
Saturday at 5:10 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner was dispatched to
a North Main Street address for a report of a possible theft. The complainant
indicated that she had bought a skirt from a male individual, but then a female
individual contacted him and said the skirt was hers. The investigation is
ongoing.
At 7:26 p.m. Tanner assisted a motorist with a vehicle
lock-out at Dollar General.
At 7:50 p.m. Tanner was dispatched to 50 North Main Street
for a report of public drunkenness. The complainant said Robert Wright Jr. had
entered the Voodoo Tattoo shop and was loud and slamming stuff around and
evidently was intoxicated. Tanner located Wright as Wright was on his way to
his 217 Mill Street home, and cited him for public intoxication.
Sunday at 1:10 a.m. Tanner was dispatched to 16 North Main
Street for a report of an assault. Trisha Wilkins and Craig Hostler, said to be
married, and residents of 71 South Main Street, were said to have attacked each
other. Both were charged with simple assault and harassment. Wilkins was
arrested, arraigned and jailed. Hostler was released at the scene but awaiting
the filing of charges with a magisterial judge. Both received minor injuries.
At 2:20 p.m. Officer William Wenzel responded to a vehicle
crash on Route 6 in front of Miles Salvage. In the non-reportable incident,
Everett Shavers was said to have passed a vehicle driven by Victoria Miles on
the left side and the vehicles made contact. There were no injuries and only minor
damage. The subjects were advised to exchange information.
