Police Report 1/27 - 2/03

Port Allegany Police were vigilant and helpful in the week that began Monday, January 27. Alarms went off for no good reason but not a bad reason either; a car was reported to be in a ditch and an officer helped the driver out—and charged him with DUI; mirrors were clipped in two incidents; a tire needed to be changed…

Last Monday at 9:30 a.m. Chief Dave Distrola took care of a fingerprinting request from Magisterial District Judge Bill Todd, and printed Mary Lou Silvis. She had been picked up by a constable on warrants for failing to respond to retail theft charges.

At 5 p.m. Officer Alan Dickerson was dispatched to a Church Street address for a welfare check. He contacted the subject, who was fine.

At 10:15 p.m. Dickerson responded to an automatic alarm at Kwik Fill. The premises were found to be secured.

Tuesday at 2:29 a.m. Dickerson responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Route 155 North. He deemed the driver to be DUI, and stood by until Pennsylvania State Police arrived.

At 12:22 p.m. Chief Distrola went to the scene of a minor vehicle crash where a mirror on a parked vehicle had been clipped by a passing motorist. The operator stopped and provided information to the owner of the parked vehicle.

Last Wednesday at 1 p.m. Distrola was requested to stand by at a Church Street residence while the requester recovered property.

At 5 p.m. Officer Tanner unlocked a motor vehicle for a patron at Munchies.

Thursday at 11 a.m. Distrola received a report of a hit-and-run where an unknown operator had clipped the mirror of a Dodge Caravan parked on Arnold Avenue.

At 6:20 p.m. Officer Tanner assisted a motorist with a flat tire on Arnold Avenue.

Friday at 2 p.m. Distrola received a complaint alleging misuse of a license plate on a vehicle at a Park Lane residence. He seized the plate. Investigation continues; charges may result.

Saturday at 5:20 p.m. Officer Tanner unlocked a vehicle for a patron at Sheetz.

Sunday at 5 p.m. Dickerson responded to an automatic alarm at Rite Aid, and found that it had been tripped accidentally by an employee.

At 6 p.m. Dickerson received a complaint of a possible theft of items from Johnston’s Hardware. The matter is under investigation.
