Jeremy had surgery earlier today....here is the latest from his Mom, Rene.
First of all, we would like to thank EVERYONE that came to Jeremys
benefit or donated or helped in any way. When we say Thank You it just
isnt enough. Our entire family has been overwhelmed and humbled by the
prayers, love, and support from all of Jeremys friends. There are just
no words and my mind is weak especially tonight, but I will work on
that! But for now, Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Today was an EXTREMELY long day. Because we couldnt get Jeremy to leave the benefit, we got a late start and the roads weren't the best. It took us 4 1/2 hours to get to Pittsburgh. I honestly think that is the longest it has ever taken me. HAHA. We were up at 3:30 am to be sure to be at the hospital by 5 am. Short night!
They took Jeremy back for surgery at 7:10 am (which actually was his scheduled time) and told us it would be about 6 hours. Pretty true to their word, he was done around 1 pm. We didnt actually get to see him until about 3, but when we did, he was semi-alert and was himself!!!!! Yippee for that.
He is in a lot of pain and has incisions, staples, stitches, tubes, bandages, etc coming and going all over his head, but those are the normal things to be expected with brain surgery i suppose. He looks a bit scary and I am sure he won't mind me telling you that he was a pretty scared guy this morning going in. They gave him quite a bit of morphine and oxycodone and he was resting when we left. I am very anxious to see how he looks in the morning.
The doctors told us he still has pressure on his brain which they hope will improve each day and the bone was thinner and the hole in it was bigger than they anticipated but all is repaired and we will go from here! Thank you all again for your prayers and support. I truly truly believe that is why we are where we are and he is still with us today!
Although each day is a new beginning for all of us, today was an especially special one for us. Jeremy is now on his road to a full recovery, daughter Sarah Smith turned 30, and granddaughter Ariana Barnard started school in Port Allegany. Our family is truly truly blessed!
Thank you again dear friends and God Bless you all!
