Police Report 9/16 - 9/22

A rebellious juvenile refused to make his bed. There were fights at the high school, one apparently having to do with a stolen and damaged cell phone. An ATV was reported stolen some time back, and an ATV was reported found several times at different places. A vehicle was parked the wrong way in the wrong place.

These and other matters required Port Allegany Police attention in the week that began Monday, September 16 and ended Sunday, September 22.

Last Monday at 11:16 a.m. Chief Dave Distrola received a complaint of unwanted text messages from a South Main Street resident. Distrola made contact with the subject, who identified himself as Rob Crigger. Distrola advised him to discontinue the unwanted texting.

At 11:27 a.m. Distrola received a report of a complaint from someone who reported having been “almost hit” on a crosswalk. Distrola was unable to contact the complainant.

At 9:22 p.m. Officer Colin Strawcutter responded to 91 Pearl Street for a report of a juvenile said to be out of control and throwing a tantrum because his mother had told him to make his bed. The juvenile was left in the care of an aunt.

Last Tuesday at 8:05 p.m. Officer Strawcutter received information that a stolen ATV was reported as being on Gardeau Road. Strawcutter attempted to locate the ATV with assistance from the Pennsylvania State police, but didn’t find it.

Last Wednesday morning at 8:30 Chief Distrola recovered a bicycle that had been found by the Arnold Avenue bridge near Oak Street.

At 1:40 p.m. Distrola unlocked a motor vehicle on Volney Street.

At 10:30 p.m. Officer Kyle Day received a report that an intoxicated person was seen on Main Street. The person was located and found to be traveling from Mississippi to Warren. He was released and was not cited.

Thursday morning Chief Distrola assisted with a lock-down drill at the Port Allegany Junior-Senior High School at 8:30, and a similar drill at the Port Allegany Elementary School at 9:30.

At 10:45 p.m. Distrola received information that a stolen ATV was located at a residence on Route 155 South. He checked, but no one was at home there and no ATV was observed near the home.

At 6 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson conducted a follow-up report on the ATV. He made contact with the property owner. The ATV was not located on the property at that time.

Friday at 1:40 p.m. Distrola received information that the PSP had recovered a stolen ATV at a property on Route 155 South. The report was checked out and the PSP confirmed that one of the ATVs located there partially matched the description of an ATV stolen from a North Main Street address on September1. Investigation continues.

At 6:07 p.m. Dickerson assisted ambulance personnel with a male subject who was having seizures at 25 Pearl Street.

At 7:53 p.m. Dickerson received a report of a juvenile being involved in a fight at the high school and having received injuries. The subject was located at a Chestnut Street address. Allegedly the juvenile had stolen some property and the fight had resulted from that. Investigation continues; charges are pending.

At 8:06 p.m. Dickerson received a report of a cell phone having been stolen and destroyed at the high school. That incident was said to be related to the fight reported earlier.

At 9:15 p.m. Dickerson received a report of an unrelated fight at the high school, with one combatant reportedly not knowing who the other one was. No charges have been filed.

Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Officer William Wenzel was requested to conduct a welfare check on a person on Dennis Avenue. The subject was found to be okay.

At 2:35 p.m. Wenzel received a complaint of a possible theft at 78 Pearl Street. The complainant said that money had been stolen from his residence, and suspected that persons he was allowing to stay there had taken the money. The investigation is ongoing.

Sunday at 12:45 a.m. Dickerson received a complaint that a vehicle was parked on Mill Street in a No Parking zone, and facing in the wrong direction. A citation was issued.
