Ellen S. Johns, 55, of Route 155, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (Sep. 14, 2013) in Cole Mem. Hospital, Coudersport.
Born
December 3, 1957, in Chambersburg, PA, she was a daughter of John D. and Joyce
A. Foreman Malone. On Sept. 29, 1990, in St. Thomas, PA, she married
William D. Johns, Jr., who survives.
Mrs.
Johns was a graduate of James Buchanan High School, St. Thomas, PA, Class of
1975, and a graduate of Millersville State University, Millers-ville, PA, Class
of 1979.
Ellen
had worked as an English as a Second Language teacher for the Bradford School
District.
Mrs.
Johns was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, where
she was a longtime Sunday school teacher and member of the WELCA. She was
a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Perry Chapter of Perry County, PA; and
loved to play bridge and was a member of several local bridge clubs.
Surviving
in addition to her parents, John and Joyce Malone of Chambersburg, and husband
William, are a son, William J. Johns of Port Allegany; a daughter, Emily A.
Johns of Port Allegany; two brothers, Philip (Sandy) Malone of St. Thomas, PA,
and Thad (Sharon) Malone of Carlisle, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by a son, Albert W. Johns.
Friends
will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home,
Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday
(Sept. 18, 2013) in Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, with Rev.
Lawrence Scofield, officiating. Burial will be in Portage Valley Cemetery,
Wrights.
