At Thursday night's Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Classic banquet at
Pitt-Bradford, Port Allegany and Portville were announced as the
winners of the prestigious Don Raabe Scholarship. Named in memory of
the game's founder and evaluated by the coaching staffs and
cheerleader advisors, the scholarship awards $1000 to one school from
each state whose participants best exemplified the character traits
of commitment, leadership, and team spirit that Raabe tried to
instill.
In addition, the Port and Allegany-Limestone coaching staffs will
each receive the $300 Bill Raabe Scholarship – named for Don's son,
who played in the game in 1976 and later served on the committee
before passing away – to help send players to instructional camps. Pam Fischer Photo
