School board passes 2013-14 budget with no tax hike/By Martha Knight

The Port Allegany School Board adopted its 2013-14 general fund budget Monday night, giving unanimous approval to a document that bridged the apparent $903,084 gap between revenues and spending in the tentative budget adopted a month ago.

Superintendent Tony Flint and business manager Judy Bodamer listed some $163,000 in additional revenues that have become available in the interim, and around $303,000 in spending reductions. Also, funds will be used from a fund balancing account.

The $14,106,517 fiscal plan calls for no increase in taxes, with even a slight decrease in the Potter County portion of the district from 39.72 mills to 39.6. McKean County rates will remain at 15.27 mills,

The school board also adopted a 2013-14 capital reserve budget totaling $464,737, designated for maintenance and repair projects.
