The Inn on Maple Street was damaged Saturday
when a thunderstorm blew through the area. Owners of the Inn, Jay
Roush and Sharen Horvath were the only people at the Inn when the damage
occurred. According to Sharen, local woodworker Mahlon Davenport, has
taken several slices of the wide tree trunk and plans to carve a bowl
for her from the wood from the 100+ year old tree. The Inn lost part of
the roof, some windows and decorative work. Sharen reported there is a
lot of detail to be repaired and that most of the gingerbread trim will
need to be reproduced for replacement as you can't go to the local
lumber yard to buy it. She is glad they have lots of photos for
reference. Pam Fischer Photo
