H. Lynn Crosby, WWII U. S. Navy Veteran



H. Lynn Crosby, 96, of Dennis Ave., passed away Saturday (Apr. 11, 2015) in his home.
    
Born May 7, 1918, in Inez, PA, he was a son of Herbert W. and Vernice Reed Crosby.  On Feb. 10, 1945, in Dayton Beach, FL, he married Margaret S. Segulin, who survives. They were married 70 years.  
    
Lynn was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1937.
    
Mr. Crosby was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Navy form Mar. 5, 1942 to Sept. 10, 1945.    
    
He was a self-employed carpenter and retired in 1987, after 35 years of service to area residents.
    
He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Port Allegany.  He enjoyed square dancing and traveling with his wife for many years.
    
Surviving is a son, William R. (Sharon) Crosby of Laguna Niguel, CA; a grandson; two brothers, Howard A. (Dorothy) Crosby of Florida, Rev. Walter (Bonnie Jean) Crosby of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
    
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lonnie and Wayne Crosby; and two sisters, Retha Campbell and Letha Roberts.
      
At Lynn’s request there will be no visitation.  
      
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Apr. 14, 2015) in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. James Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Smethport.
    
A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard immediately following the funeral, at the church.
    
Memorials can be made to St. Gabriel’s Church Memorial Fund or Port Area Ambulance Service.
    
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
