The
Port Allegany Women's Club met February 23 at the Senior Center in Port
Allegany. The meeting had been scheduled for the week before but was
postponed due to the frigid temperatures.
Hostesses for the soup supper were Sharen Horvath, Anna Fair and Mary Mensch.
Mary Gregg introduced and welcomed new members Rhonda Butler, Mary Kinney, Krystal Meade and Judy Nobles.
The
program was given by head librarian at the S. W. Smith Memorial
Library, Teri McDowell, She explained how the state and federal funding
for operations works, told of the Friends of the Library Book Sale, and
invited members to stop in, renew their library cards and check out
what's happening at the library.
The club heard
a report on the 2014 Wreath Project and voted to purchase a new spring
banner to be hung on the pols on Main Street. Also discussed was the
landscaping of the gazebo on the town square; the 2015 Fair on the
Square scheduled for July 11
- Gloria McDowell and Joyce Stehle will consider the options and report
back to the club with ideas of what could be contributed by the club to
the event. Mary Gregg and Pam Fischer will look for speakers for
upcoming meetings.
