Causer to Host Property Tax/Rent Rebate Clinic in Emporium

HARRISBURG – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) announced today he is hosting a Property Tax/Rent Rebate clinic in Emporium to help senior citizens and other eligible individuals apply for the program.

The clinic will be held on Thursday, March 26, from 1-3 p.m. at the Emporium Senior Center, 213 ½ S. Maple St. No appointments are necessary, and the service is provided free of charge.

“Property tax and rent rebates are a big help for senior citizens on limited incomes,” Causer said. “We want to make sure people who are eligible for the program benefit from it.”

Applicants are reminded to bring the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process their claims quickly and accurately.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with permanent disabilities who meet certain income guidelines. Renters may earn up to $15,000 annually and qualify for the program, while homeowners may earn up to $35,000.  Exclude 50 percent of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits when calculating income.
