Port Allegany Police were asked to help
with an assortment of problems, in the week that began Monday, January 19.
There were reports of bullying. Dogs were running loose. Marijuana was found in
a vehicle. A borrowed car was not returned.
Last Monday at 8 a.m. Chief Dave
Distrola fingerprinted a DUI suspect for Officer Tony Tanner.
At 10:30 a.m. Distrola was contacted by
a parent concerned about a child being picked on by another student. Distrola
contacted the alleged perpetrator and advised him to discontinue that behavior,
then contacted the parent.
At 2:30 p.m. Distrola was contacted
about a parking issue on Mill Street near Willow Street. The vehicle had been
moved by the time he arrived.
Also at 2:30 p.m. Distrola contacted
the person alleged to have run bus lights the previous Friday, and told him he
would be receiving citations via mail after they had been filed at the
magisterial district judge’s office.
Last Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. Distrola
received a complaint about a parking issue on East Mill Street. He made contact
with the vehicle owner, who agreed to move the vehicle.
Last Wednesday at 3 a.m. Officer Adam
Dickerson responded to a report of an alarm at the Veterans Memorial Home. It
turned out to be a false alarm.
At 2:30 p.m. Distrola received a
complaint of a vehicle being borrowed and not returned at the agreed upon time.
The complainant decided to wait another day before following through with a
formal complaint.
Last Saturday at 7 a.m. a purse was
turned in at the police office. The owner was identified and contacted.
At 11:30 a.m. Officer Kyle Day assisted
Pennsylvania State Police with the search of a vehicle operated by Thomas
Bennett on Main Street at Arnold Avenue. Marijuana allegedly was recovered from
the vehicle.
At 1:30 p.m. Day received a report of a
possible hit-and-run. An Eldred resident indicated that the car possibly was
hit presumably while it was in Port Allegany Tuesday or Wednesday.
At 6 p.m. Officer Tanner was contacted
about a set of keys that were held from a traffic stop earlier in the week.
At 7:30 p.m. Tanner was contacted about
a dog running loose on Pearl Street. The owner was contacted and informed
concerning the state law and the borough ordinance pertaining to dog control.
Sunday at 1 a.m. Tanner observed a dog
running at large in the Church street area. Tanner recognized the dog and
planned to contact the owner.
At 1:30 p.m. Officer William Wenzel
received a complaint of a possible harassment. A Park Lane resident said a
known person had been calling repeatedly and driving past his residence.
Investigation is ongoing.
Monday at 1:30 a.m. Tanner responded to
a report of a medical alarm on Hickory street. The call was cancelled en route
when it was reported that the subject is in a care facility.
