Thank you to everyone for your kind words concerning last week's column and photos. It's good to hear!
My
husband and I had a great time at the annual Rotary holiday dinner. We
sat with Dave and Anna Fair and John and Debbie Mallery. The food was
excellent. Great food, great company - what else could you ask for on a
cold wintry Saturday evening?
Friday
was pretty busy for me. Granddaughters Makayla and Lilly and I went to
Shop & Save to collect cash, soup and crackers for the Souper Bowl
of Caring. What a good experience it is for them. We were relieved by
the Wilfongs - Levi, Nicholas and Tracy, and Patty Fabish. The UMC Sunday
school appreciates that Shop & Save allowed us to use their store
for our collection and would like to thank everyone who contributed at
the store and at the church. The food went to PACS and will be shared
locally.
After
our event for the Souper Bowl of Caring, the girls and I went to the
Family Fun Night. This event was sponsored by the Elementary Boosters.
You can count on anything the Boosters do to be done well. The Family
Fun Night was just that - a lot of fun! We couldn't stay till the
end...but we had a lot of fun nonetheless.
After
Fun Night, the girls and I parted. I went to watch the boys play
basketball with the Coudersport Falcons. The final score was a little
lopsided, but the game was a good one. As has happened the last few
games, members of the Youth Basketball program showed off their talents a
little during half-time of the varsity games....the girls play at the
Lady Gator games and the boys play at the Gator Guys games. The kids
are fun to watch!
We've
been meeting once a month, sometimes twice a month, to do
scrapbooking. I love this activity but have not done it in years. I
always wanted to, but never could find the time. I can't find the time
now either, but I'm making time. Anyone who wants to join us is
welcome. I think we're going to start a scrapbooking club. Anyone who
is interested can contact me and I will fill you in on the details.
The Pinewood Derby was held at the Moose Family Center Saturday morning. The kids always have fun and it is nice to see them in friendly competition.
Elementary Boosters...Youth Basketball coaches, Boy Scout Leaders...Sunday
school teachers...there sure are a lot of volunteers spending their
time working with our kids and grandkids. A lot of the volunteers wear
many hats! It's not always easy and people don't always agree with the
way volunteers go about their jobs, but we owe them our thanks for all
that they do. I know as a grandparent, I am even more grateful than I
was as a parent.
Coming up - February 6 and 7
is Centerstage. Centerstage is always a wonderful evening filled with
music. The program features the Chamber Singers fresh off their trip to
Carnegie Hall; the Senior High Jazz Band as well as soloists and small
ensembles. The ticket price is cheap - the entertainment is not! The
program is very enjoyable and I am looking forward to it!
