It's
been quite some time since the last Pam's Corner, but I will attempt to do a
better job of have a column done regularly.
I
never got around to posting "Holiday Happening" photos. I will
be doing that right after this column is finished. There were so many
wonderful events ...some that have become tradition and some new! The
"Christmas on the Square" was wonderful! It promises to be
bigger and better next year and I'm not sure how that could happen, but I guess
there is always room for improvement.
Santa's
Shop at PAES, Breakfast with Santa at the Veteran's Memorial, Advent
Services/Luncheons, Wintersongs, Holiday Band Concert and so much more filled
the Christmas season with festive fun and much joy.
Personally,
we had family in from Florida. We so appreciate the fact that Kacie and
her family are willing to spend the money and take the time to visit with us at
Christmas when I am sure it would be so much easier for them to just stay
home. It was a hard trip here and another hard trip home...the kids were
not feeling well - before coming, while here, and after returning home...but I
think all are well now and enjoying the new year.
Winter
sports are well underway. The Gator Wrestlers will celebrate their Senior
Night on January 23, Lady Gator Basketball will celebrate on February 4 and the
Gator Guys on February 11. Come out and support the kids as they finish
their high school winter sports careers.
Our
District Band kids are back from their festival - congrats go to Drew
Rosenswie, Jefferson Stehle, Hannah Ernst and Daniel Bishel. District
Chorus is next week - we have six representatives - Charlie Kysor, Drew
Rosenswie, Daniel Bishel, Sydney Fitzsimmons, Anna Undercofler and Ashley
Ahern. Congrats to them and good luck in their upcoming festival.
As
I type this, the Port Allegany High School Chamber Singers are on their way to
New York City! How exciting is that? I, who have not traveled very
much, have been to New York City twice....both trips were made with the PASD
Music Department. I will be forever grateful for the places I visited and
the experiences I had thanks to the school's music department. I'm sure
the students feel the same way.
The
Chamber Singers work very hard and must love what they do as they get up very
early Thursday mornings and practice before the school day starts. They
are dedicated. Most are involved in many other activities as well -
sports, Student Council, Peer Helpers, etc. and those activities along with
their studies take a lot of time. I admire these students...and the
adults who work with them. I am sure they will have a wonderful
performance and a memorable trip!
The
Super Bowl is coming up and the students at the Port Allegany United Methodist
Church are getting ready for their annual Souper Bowl of Caring. Details
will follow as they become available.
That's
it for this time...I hope everyone has a good week!
Be
kind to one another!
