May Z. Amell, Port Restaurant owner




May Z. Amell, 86, of Port Allegany, died Sunday (January 18, 2015) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

She was born May 1, 1928 in Charleroi, PA, a daughter of Frank and Virginia Zeli Kaziska.

Mrs. Amell was a cook for the majority of her life. She worked for the Canoe Place Inn, and had also owned and operated her own restaurant, Port Restaurant, for a period of time.

She was a member of Port Allegany Star Hose Auxiliary, the Tri-County Firemen's Auxiliary. May was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting.

She is survived by:

one daughter: Virginia (Bernard "Spot") Safford of Port Allegany

two Grandchildren: Christopher Safford and Angela Green, both of Port Allegany

four Great Grandchildren: Somer And Kara Safford, Jarid Green, and Vai Wimpelberg

one sister: Barbara (Dan) Ness of Smethport

two brothers: Floyd (Brenda) Kaziska of Smethport, and Joe (Jane) Kaziska of Port Allegany

and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Patricia O'Toole and Gloria Tauscher, and one brother: Ralph Kaziska

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Port Allegany.
