May Z. Amell, 86, of
Port Allegany, died Sunday (January 18, 2015) in the Charles Cole Memorial
Hospital, Coudersport.
She was born May 1,
1928 in Charleroi, PA, a daughter of Frank and Virginia Zeli Kaziska.
Mrs. Amell was a cook
for the majority of her life. She worked for the Canoe Place Inn, and had also
owned and operated her own restaurant, Port Restaurant, for a period of time.
She was a member of
Port Allegany Star Hose Auxiliary, the Tri-County Firemen's Auxiliary. May was
an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting.
She is survived by:
one daughter:
Virginia (Bernard "Spot") Safford of Port Allegany
two Grandchildren:
Christopher Safford and Angela Green, both of Port Allegany
four Great
Grandchildren: Somer And Kara Safford, Jarid Green, and Vai Wimpelberg
one sister: Barbara
(Dan) Ness of Smethport
two brothers: Floyd
(Brenda) Kaziska of Smethport, and Joe (Jane) Kaziska of Port Allegany
and many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Patricia O'Toole and Gloria
Tauscher, and one brother: Ralph Kaziska
Visitation will be
held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N
Main St, Port Allegany, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held
at 11:00 am, Wednesday, with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the United
Methodist Church of Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's
Cemetery, Port Allegany.
