Marlene
Loucks Brown, 77, of Volney St., passed away Thursday (Dec. 4, 2014) in Sweden
Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born
January 29, 1937, in Smethport, she was a daughter of Walter B. and Geraldine
Kiser Johnson. On June 2, 1956, in Smethport, she married William A.
Loucks, Sr., who died Jan. 22, 1998.
Marlene
provided child care for many local families, and was also a foster parent for
many years.
She was a
lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Smethport Area High School,
Class of 1954.
She was a
member of the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, and the church Care &
Share Sewing group; Port Allegany Senior Center, where she was a volunteer for
Meals on Wheels for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies,
Glamorette chapter, Port Allegany.
Surviving
are a son, William A. (Crystal) Loucks, Jr. of Port Allegany; a daughter, Diane
M. (Wallace) Finn of Turtlepoint; four grandchildren, Jesse (Morgan) and Alex
Loucks both of Port Allegany, Daniel and Grace Finn both of Turtlepoint; two
great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Wyatt Loucks of Port Allegany; a brother, Walter
B. Johnson, Jr. of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Margaret Johnson. husband,
William, and a brother, Kenneth Johnson.
Friends
will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port
Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Monday (Dec. 8,
2014) in the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, with Rev. LaVerne Howard,
pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
