Lake Effect Snow ADVISORY Update



FIRST SIGNIFICANT LAKE EFFECT SNOW OF THE SEASON WITH HEAVY ACCUMULATION OF UP TO ONE FOOT POSSIBLE ACROSS THE PERENNIAL SNOWBELT OF NORTHWEST WARREN 
COUNTY... 
 
...LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST FRIDAY... 
 
* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW. 
 
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY WILL VARY FROM 5 TO 7 INCHES ACROSS THE NORTHWEST 
CORNER OF MCKEAN COUNTY...TO AROUND 2 INCHES OVER THE SOUTHEAST PART OF THE COUNTY. 
 
* TIMING...OCCASIONAL LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW SHOWERS WILL EVOLVE INTO PERIODS OF STEADIER LAKE EFFECT SNOW LATE TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY. THERE 
WILL BE A FEW LULLS IN THIS LONG-DURATION LAKE EFFECT SNOW EVENT AS SOME PULSES OF DRIER AIR MOVE ACROSS THE REGION. THERE WILL ALSO BE BRIEF PERIODS 
OF HEAVY SNOW WITH THE VISIBILITY AROUND ONE QUARTER OF A MILE. 
 
* IMPACTS...REDUCED VISIBILITY...AND SLOWED TRAVEL DUE TO SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS. 
 
* VISIBILITIES...MAINLY BETWEEN 1 AND 2 MILES...BUT OCCASIONALLY AROUND ONE-HALF OF A MILE. 
 
* TEMPERATURES...AROUND 30 DEGREES DURING THE DAY AND IN THE 20S AT NIGHT.
