Christmas On The Square

On Thursday, December 4, the Town Square will come alive with Christmas on the Square from 6-9 p.m.  The brainchild of Pat Bodamer, the evening is designed to "bring in the Christmas season with family, community, warm smiles, fun, traditions and memories".

Christmas sweaters and costumes are encouraged, but also feel free to come as you are.  Opening remarks will be made by Mayor George Riley and the trees will be lit at that time.  Rev. Randy Headley will offer an invocation at 6:05 followed by a Christmas Reading by Marty Moses at 6:10.  Grand Marshals Lloyd and Dolores Eastman  will be introduced by Keith Fortner at 6:20 and at 6:30 Santa Claus will arrive.  Parents are welcome to take pictures of their children with Santa Claus, but if you don't have a camera, see Pam Fischer and she will snap one for you!

Peg McKervey will speak about the Nativity Scene project at 6:45; a candle lighting will be held at 6:50, led by Denise Distrola.  Students from the Sandy Johnson School of Dance will perform around 7:15 followed by the Elves singing the Twelve Days of Christmas at 7:30 and Elves Musical Chairs at 7:40.

There will be a massive Bunny Hop and Dance contest at 8:10 and the winner of the Ugly Sweater Contest will be announced at 8:30.

In addition to Santa's House, hot chocolate and candy canes will be available by the Lions Club; a cookie sale will be held by the Star Hose Auxiliary; and popcorn will be available from Bayline's Insurance.

In case of inclement weather, Christmas on the Square will be held at the Port Allegany Elementary School.

Music will be provided throughout the evening by Johnathan Meade, a gift made possible by the employees of the First National Bank.
