I'm a little behind with this
column...I guess I am one of those people who need deadlines. It isn't
that I'm sitting around or taking it easy, it's just that I have so many
things to do, I tend to do what has to be done at the moment and worry
about the rest later. Therefore, everything seems to be done at the
last minute...and I guess that is fine with me.
I do want to set one thing straight. I am not retired. I did
retire from the Reporter Argus, but have continued working, doing all
of the things I did before - Memory Mates, pictures for banquets,
promotional shots and more. My work can be found on Port Allegany
Online. People are a little confused as to what is going on with me,
but there it is in a nutshell.
We start Sunday school on September 7th and would like to
invite anyone not currently enrolled in a Christian Education program to
try us out! We'd love to have you join us. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. Morning worship begins at 11 a.m. There is Junior Church/Nursery for kids during the morning worship, also.
Speaking of Sunday School things, the Unsung Heroes program is
still in operation....just waiting for that next recipient to be
nominated. If there is someone who has made a difference in your life,
consider nominating them as an Unsung Hero...a neighbor who is always
there to help take out the garbage or shovel snow for the elderly; a
teacher, coach or Scout leader; a volunteer at the school or library; a
store or business that goes above and beyond; a doctor or dentist
....the possibilities are endless. We have a couple of names, but are
looking for more. It's not hard to nominate your Unsung Hero...just
give the recipient's name/address/phone no. and the reason you have
nominated them. If you know other things about them - family, other
volunteer work, etc., include that information as well. You can email
me at pamdfischer@gmail.com or mail to 3786 Route #155, Port Allegany, PA 16743.
I had a call from Dr. Tronetti's office - he asked if i could
come over toward the end of the day...around quarter to 5 because he and
some of the staff ....before he finished, I thought, "Oh, no!" it's an
intervention" I need to get into the doctor, but I've had two
appointments that I had to change and have yet to make another. But
that is not why he was calling. There was no intervention. There was,
however, a challenge from Scott Christie and Lakeview Senior Care and Living Center to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. We took that photo just as it began to storm on Tuesday. They were good sports!
Well, if the Boller Family didn't know it before, they sure
know it now! Chuck was very well-liked and greatly respected in the
Port Allegany community and beyond. The visitation held Saturday night
and Sunday afternoon before the funeral was very nice. Marcia had put
together a DVD of family photos that brought back some old memories. The
funeral was full of music...Chuck was full of music. There was a song
performed by the Consistory Choir and another by members of several
church choirs who had previously sung with Chuck. His children...all
five of them spoke and a few of the grandkids did readings. The church
was packed! The Masons and the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard both said
their good-byes. Charles Boller, Jr. will be missed! Our thoughts and
prayers go to his family!
Be kind to one another!
