House Education Committee to Hold Hearings on Administration's Position on PA Academic Standards



WHAT:     The House Education Committee, led by Chairman Paul Clymer (R-Bucks), will hold two oversight hearings on the Corbett administration’s recent announcement regarding review of the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. The tentative hearing details are as follows:
  • Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 9-11 a.m. Acting Education Secretary Carolyn Dumaresq and Policy Secretary Jennifer Branstetter are invited to explain Gov. Tom Corbett’s position on the Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those invited to testify include members of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and the Pennsylvania State Education Association to discuss the effects on students, teachers and school districts resulting from Corbett’s announcement regarding the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. 

WHERE:  Majority Caucus Room, Room 140, Main Capitol, Harrisburg (off the main Rotunda).
