There were some thefts, some loud
music, a wondering child, shots fired on Brooklynside, and other matters that
kept Port Allegany Police busy in the week that began Monday, July 28.
Last Monday at 1-:30 a.m. Chief Dave
Distrola interviewed three suspects in connection with the theft of a trailer
from Burleson’s Feed Store on Pearl Street. Charges are pending.
At 1:40 p.m. Distrola received a
complaint of a possible burglary on Vine Street. Persons unknown had entered an
unoccupied trailer, but the owner was not yet sure whether anything had been
taken.
At 11:30 p.m. Officer Kyle Day assisted
Smethport police in making an arrest of an intoxicated male vagrant, on whom
there were warrants. The subject was taken into custody without incident.
Last Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. Distrola
received a complaint of a theft of property from 115 North Main Street. Said
removed from behind the residence were a piece of scaffolding, a cement mixer
and a wheelbarrow. Neighbors said they had recently seen near the residence a
white male who walked with a limp and drove a rusted silver truck.
Investigation is ongoing.
Last Wednesday at 1:06 a.m. Officer
Adam Dickerson received a call concerning a child found wandering in the area
of Kromas Avenue. The child was staying with grandparents, and they had not
known the child had left the house. The child is said to have mental health
issues.
Thursday at 10:20
a.m. Distrola received a complaint of a
burglary on Pearl Street. Someone had entered through an unsecured window and
removed a video game system and two games, two cell phones and a glass stein.
Investigation is ongoing.
Friday at 2 a.m. Dickerson unlocked a
motor vehicle on Vine Street.
At 1:12 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner
received a complaint that contents of a package had been stolen from 28 ½ North
Main Street. It was alleged that persons unknown had removed a computer from a
package, then taped the package closed and left it inside the doorway.
At 9:15 p.m. Tanner received a complaint of
harassment in that a subject had been walking past a North Main Street
apartment complex and calling a pedestrian names. Tanner said he would contact
the alleged name caller and advise that person to refrain.
At 2:39 p.m. Tanner received a
complaint of noise coming from behind Shooter’s Bar. Tanner found that persons
were standing around a truck listening to loud music. He found the truck and
its owner at Sheetz and advised the owner to turn the music down.
Sunday at 1:24
a.m. Tanner responded to a report of shots
fired at 218 Brooklynside Road. Tanner and a Smethport Police Department
officer responded and secured the scene until the arrival of Pennsylvania State
Police. No further information was provided.
At 8:30 a.m. Officer Day received a
complaint of a theft from the rear of 12 ½ Main Street. Said missing was a 1972
red Honda CB350 with a black stripe.
At 2:19 p.m. Day was notified that the
roadway was flooded in the 200 block of North Main Street. He requested traffic
control to divert traffic from the area until flooding subsided.
At 5:18 p.m. Tanner received a call
about the stolen Honda motorcycle having been found over an embankment on Route
155 South. The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner. Anyone with
information about the incident is asked to contact the Port Allegany Police.
At 10:49 p.m. Tanner helped a motorist
with a vehicle lockout at Sheetz.
At 11:54 p.m. Tanner received a
complaint concerning an erratic driver on Route 6, traveling toward Port
Allegany from Smethport. Tanner was unable to locate the vehicle.
