Vandalism and graffiti by fire
extinguisher. A potty accident in a store. A dog running at large and a human
toddling at large. A coup de grace for a deer.
Calls received by the Port Allegany
Police were many and varied in the week that began Monday, July 21.
Last Monday at 11:15
a.m. Chief Dave Distrola assisted a
motorist with a vehicle lockout on Mill Street.
At 11:33 a.m. Distrola received a call
about an unleashed dog at a Lillibridge Road location. He told the caller to
notify the Pennsylvania State Police.
At 12:01 p.m. Dollar General staff
requested help at the store, where someone had brought in a mentally challenged
person who experienced a potty accident in his or her clothing. That individual
had left by the time Distrola arrived.
At 3:30 p.m. Distrola received a
complaint that a 17-year-old had been tattooed without the father’s permission.
Apparently the father’s present wife had signed permission for her stepchild to
be tattooed. Distrola explained that the statute concerning tattooing of minors
does not apply sanctions against the unauthorized signer, but does apply them
to the tattooist. The juvenile turns 18 in a month and would have been eligible
then to receive tattoo services without parental permission.
At 9:30 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson
went to a Mill Street location where an unattended three-year-old child was
running in the street. He located the parents and “advised them of the issue.”
Last Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. Dickerson
received a complaint that a female juvenile had been struck in the head by a
rock thrown by a male juvenile from the area outside the pool. Investigation
continues; charges are pending.
At 10 p.m. Dickerson euthanized an injured deer
on West Mill Street, and notified the game commission.
Last Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Distrola
assisted a motorist with a vehicle lockout at the Post Office.
At 10:p.m. Dickerson received a
complaint about a barking dog in a Church Street neighborhood. He was unable to
locate the source of the noise.
Thursday at 2
a.m. Dickerson received a call about a fire
extinguisher having been stolen and discharged at a Main Street location. The
matter was passed on to the following shift.
At 10:20 a.m. Chief Distrola received a
call from Northern Tier Thrift Store about a fire extinguisher having been
sprayed on the store front. The extinguisher had been removed from the hallway
of 28 Main Street. The subject was located, and replaced the fire extinguisher
and cleaned up the mess. No charges will be filed.
At 3:30 p.m. Distrola was contacted by
Emporium-based PSP who picked up Trisha Wilkins on an arrest warrant. Distrola
met the PSP unit and transported Wilkins to her arraignment before Magisterial
District Judge William Todd. She was jailed “with bail condition.”
At 5 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner received a bike
that had been found near the Shirt Shack and turned in.
At 8:47 p.m. Tanner received a
complaint about a car being operated erratically, speeding and squealing tires
on Edison Bates Drive. Tanner was unable to locate the vehicle.
Friday at 10:20
a.m. Distrola received an anonymous report
of a trailer having been stolen in the borough. The trailer was located in
Rixford. Persons who were involved are being investigated. Charges are pending.
Monday at 12:59
a.m. Officer Tanner was called to Sheetz
for a report that a complainant had been short-changed. Tanner reviewed
surveillance video and concluded that there had been no error in the change.
