Another Monday, another Pam's Corner. I want to thank
everyone who has offered their appreciation of my work in the Reporter Argus
and for telling me how much you miss the picture pages and my column.
I've never known if people are just being nice or if they really like my work,
but either way, I appreciate the comments. I'm going to continue working
as I always have but my work will no longer appear in the Reporter Argus but
can be found here, on Port Allegany Online.
I'm a little late with this Pam's Corner. I wanted to
hold off until Thursday when the announcement of the August PAHS Alumni of the
Month was made. Not because I want to "brag" about the
selection, but because I question how I fit into the mix. Josh Kinney...World
Series baseball player...Dr. Janet Stout, President, CEO and owner of Special
Pathogens....and me! My piece didn't seem to fit in this Alumni of the
Month puzzle. I backpedaled a little and asked if I really fit in with
this crowd, thinking that I should have not filled out the paperwork. I
was reassured that I should accept. The announcement came, as
scheduled. I guess I know how the Unsung Heroes felt who didn't want to
be honored because they hadn't done anything special. My answer to them
was always the same...someone thought you deserved the honor! I
appreciate those who nominated me and I also appreciate the idea of the Alumni
of the Month. It is so nice to see so many positive things coming from
our school's Facebook page and website.
The summer is going by so quickly. I have barely had
the opportunity to use the pool. It seems that if it is hot and sunny,
I'm not at home to enjoy the pool. If it is wet, rainy...I would still
get in the pool...do my exercises and get out....not really linger for
fun! This summer, however, I usually arrive home about five minutes
before it thunders. The next thing I know, the pool will be closed, I
will be home and it will be hot and humid...happens every year!
It's
the last day of July...Marching Band and sports practices will begin in just a
few days. It's the beginning of the end of the summer. School will
begin before the month of August is over and everyone will get back into a
regular routine around here. Enjoy the freedom that summer offers while
you can!
Be kind to one another!
Be kind to one another!

Corner can now be found exclusively online at Port Allegany Online. We
thank Pam for sharing her column with PAO)
