Martin to participate in Mission Trip

Jenna Martin, a 2005 graduate of Port Allegany High school will leave this September for a yearlong Mission Trip, referred to as “The World Race” by ‘Adventures in Missions’, the Atlanta based church affiliated mission group that organizes and facilitates such opportunities for interested young people.  Jenna will visit Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. While in each country, she and her mission team will be partnering with local churches and ministries to serve in ANY area of need.  The total cost for this trip is $16,254.00.

*  A fundraiser will be held on Sunday August 24th in Port Allegany to benefit Jenna’s Mission Trip.  Events on the 24th include three separate events all open to the public; each one to benefit Jenna’s upcoming trip.

*  “Pie (& ice cream) for Peace”, an all-you-can-eat dessert buffet for just $5 at the Baptist Church on Main Street in Port Allegany from 12noon – 4pm

*  “Tastes and Tours” at the historic ‘Lynn Hall’ on Route 6 in Port Allegany includes local refreshments and tours of the estate, built by Walter Hall in the early 1930’s.  Hall was an apprentice and worker of architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his famous ‘Falling Water’; giving the Lynn Hall property many of the same characteristics.

A “World Fair” will be held at the Moose Club at 35 Pearl Street in downtown Port Allegany from 2pm-6pm.  There is FREE Admission to the Fair, where there will be food, drink, games, art & crafts, music, prizes, raffles and more fun from all around the world.

After graduating from Clarion University, Jenna has lived in the Northside of Pittsburgh, PA for the past three years.  While in Pittsburgh, she has served in Children’s Ministry as an after school teacher and summer counselor.  “This job has brought out such joy in me”, says Jenna.  “Since my last missionary conference Urbana, I’ve felt strongly led to spread the ministry dedications I have learned and to help people around the World.  I could not be more grateful for this opportunity and hope not only to improve people’s lives as a travel for the next year, but that others here at home would be interested to use this experience positively in their own life. ”
