Two South Main Street residents were
involved in alleged misuse of funds, one as victim and one as perpetrator.
Someone may be stealing used cooking oil from the Moose Family Center. Somebody
tiptoed out the back door of Voodoo in the wee, small hours, to loud musical
accompaniment.
Those happenings were among the matters
Port Allegany Police dealt with in the week that began July 14.
Last Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. Chief Dave
Distrola collected a statement from Curt J. Spindler of 71 South Main Street
concerning the alleged theft and forgery of checks drawn on his account. Trisha
Wilkins, also of 71 South Main Street, was identified as the alleged
perpetrator. Charges were filed against her for stealing, forging and cashing
eight checks totaling $1,425.
At 5 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson received
several reports that children were riding their bikes on Broad Street and were
nearly being struck by motor vehicles. Dickerson contacted the parents and the
issue was resolved.
At 6 p.m. Dickerson received a complaint that
there had been fraudulent activity on an Arnold Avenue resident’s bank account.
Unknown persons had ordered two laptop computers using the account. Both
computers were delivered to the account holder’s address. An explanation of
this is being sought.
Last Wednesday at 8
a.m. Distrola received notification that a
vehicle had been parked next to the Port Allegany Health Center since Monday.
It was registered to someone with a Johnsonburg address. Distrola did not succeed
in contacting the owner. He noted that the vehicle is legally parked.
At 8:30 a.m. Distrola received a
complaint of a possible theft of cooking oil from a storage vat behind the
Moose Family Center. The caller indicated that the company that collects used
cooking oil reported that there was much less than usual in the vat.
At 11:30 p.m. officer Tony Tanner
received a complaint of a noise disturbance above Voodoo Tattoo. When he got
there he found that there was music coming from the shop and advised the owner
to turn down the volume.
Friday at 5 p.m. Officer Tanner
received a complaint that a man was yelling in the 200 block of East Mill
Street. Tanner made contact with the subject, who seemed to be “having a bad
day.” Tanner requested that he refrain from yelling, because neighbors were
calling and complaining.
Saturday at 1:59
a.m. Tanner arrested Nicholas Bosworth, 33,
of North Second Street, Harrisburg, for suspected DUI after Bosworth crossed
into the wrong lane and opposing travel direction on North Main Street. Charges
are pending lab results.
At 12:45 p.m. Officer William Wenzel
received a complaint that a person was loitering behind Moe’s Bar and Grill,
sifting through the ash receptacle and asking customers for money. Wenzel
instructed the man to leave the premises and not return.
At 5:15 a.m. Tanner received a noise
complaint from a resident above Voodoo Tattoo. He found that music was coming
from the shop, and saw a person who was inside leave through the back door when
Tanner knocked. Tanner noted that any further complaints will result in
citations being issued.
