Pam's Corner... comments, questions and other stuff by Port's Famous Photographer

It's not unusual for me to write a column on Monday night...it is unusual that I am not writing it for the local newspaper.

I have not "retired" and I plan to continue as I have for years - taking pictures at community events, doing Memory Mate pictures, and promoting activities throughout the community.  The only difference is that my work will be seen on Port Allegany Online and where ever new opportunities take me.
Last week's Rotary meeting was very nice.  George Riley presented a short talk about the Civil War.  He asked who had been to Gettysburg.  I remember going with my family when we were little.  That's about all I remember..maybe a cannon or two.  His talk was very interesting...it is easy to see how he keeps his students interested!
The Ron Tusing Trio played Thursday night at the COTS.   There was a good crowd.  The COTS series is very popular year after year thanks to a handful of people from the Port Allegany Women's Club.  Congrats to them and a big thank you to all who make these events possible.
The Fifth Annual Gator Alumni Charity Football Game took place Friday night under the lights at Gator Field...also known as "The Swamp".  A record setting crowd of approximately 2000 people were in attendance as the Gator Alumni defeated the Hubber Alumni 66-20.  In all fairness to the Hubbers, it was their first game as alumni and you live and learn.
The addition of the Alumni Cheerleaders and the Alumni Gator Band was awesome!  It was nice to see them supporting our Gator Guys!  I loved the whole thing - from beginning to end...it wasn't even unbearably hot for me which was something new!  Two of my favorite things took place this summer - the Sandy Johnson School of Dance recital and the Alumni Game.  People who think there is nothing to do around here need to think again!

Who's in?  Who wants to be a part of the second annual Fair on the Square? It is a good way to get information about your group out to the community...it is an opportunity to raise some funds for your group...it allows people to get outdoors, enjoy our beautiful town square, visit and enjoy some tasty treats...and more.  The line-up we have already is pretty awesome, but the more the merrier!  Mark your calendars for August 2nd!
Be kind to one another!
