Warm summer evenings enticed some
juveniles to violate the curfew. A different curfew, this one a condition of
state parole, was violated by a parolee. The concession stand at the pool was
damaged, and money and candy bars were stolen. A township resident complained
of loud music on the Square. Stolen jewelry was reported returned.
These and other matters occupied the
attention of Port Allegany Police in the week that began Monday, June 16 and
continued into the wee small hours of June 23.
Last Monday at 7
p.m. Officer Tony Tanner addressed a
parking issue in which a Mill Street resident has been parking in a No Parking
zone.
At 7:05 that resident reported finding
scratches on the vehicle, but the complainant could not say when the damage had
occurred.
Last Tuesday at 2:01 a.m. Tanner
received a New York State learner permit issued to Brian C. Dowell of Olean,
N.Y. The officer tried to locate Dowell, and asked Olean police to stop by
Dowell’s residence. No report came back as to whether Dowell was located.
At 9:28 p.m. Tanner received a
complaint concerning noise coming from the Square, where a concert was in
progress, and the sound was said to be disturbing Steve Larson at his home
three miles away. Police noted that they received no other complaints
concerning bands playing on the Square.
Wednesday at 1:10
p.m. Officer Kyle Day and Officer Tony
Tanner attended a health fair at the Career and Technical Center.
At 6:30 p.m. Officer Dickerson cited Adam Rotino
for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct on West Mill Street, where Rotino
was alleged to be causing a public disturbance.
At 12 noon Thursday Day received a report that a
person on Benton Avenue who had reported a theft of jewelry last Thursday had
discovered the items in a bag hanging on her front door knob, after being
awakened by a noise at 4 a.m.
Saturday at 1:30 a.m. Officer Adam Dickerson responded to a
report of a motor vehicle crash in front of 64 Church Street, where the
operator of a vehicle had struck a parked car and fled on foot. Investigation
is continuing.
At 11 a.m. Officer William Wenzel received a
complaint of money having been stolen from a lock box at the concession stand at
the Community Park swimming pool. The theft was said to have occurred during
the swim meet Thursday night. The complainant also reported that glass had been
broken at the stand Thursday night and candy bars had been stolen.
Investigation is ongoing.
At 1:30 p.m. Wenzel received a report
of a hit-and-run in which the caller said she had seen a tan Pontiac hit her
car in the Port Freeze parking lot at 12:30 p.m.. Wenzel followed up but could not
locate the vehicle.
Sunday at 11:10 a.m. Officer Day received a complaint of an
erratic driver on East Arnold Avenue. Gavin Rupert reported that a red Chevy
truck had nearly struck him while he was walking his baby. The truck operator
was located later and issued written warnings, at Rupert’s behest.
At 12:30 p.m. Day discovered apparent
damage to the lock mechanism of the Pepsi machine on Edison Bates Drive. The
damage looks like burn marks. The machine was not breached. Day indicated that
this incident could be related to the theft from the concession stand at the swimming
pool.
At 8:48 p.m. Tanner went to the area of the Dollar
General for an ambulance assist. The ambulance transported a possible seizure
patient.
Monday at 1:06
a.m. Tanner discovered two male juveniles
out after curfew. The subjects were picked up by their parents and warnings
were issued for first offenses.
Also at 1:06 a.m. Tanner discovered Jake Tarr of 310
North Main Street out after his 8 p.m. curfew, which is a condition of his
state parole. “Negative contact” was reported. The information will be
forwarded.
At 3:40 a.m. Tanner found a male
juvenile out in violation of the borough curfew. This was a second offense, so
the juvenile’s guardian will be cited.
