John J. Waid, 80, of
Smethport formerly of Port Allegany, died Monday (June 2, 2014) in the Lakeview
Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
He was born Apr 25,
1934 in Wellsville, a son of Clayton and Irene Waid, On July 28, 1972 in
Sweden, NY; he married Lynn Waid, who died Nov. 9, 2006.
Mr. Waid was a
graduate of Port Allegany High School.
He was a veteran of
the Korean War having served with the U.S. Air Force 1952 to 1956.
Mr. Waid was a logger
for many years as well as Heavy Equipment Operator, employed by several local
contractors.
He loved to fish
and hunt... a true outdoorsman. He kept everyone supplied with firewood
for many winters and was still chopping firewood into his early 70s.
He is survived by:

One sister: Delores
Fiem of West Alexander, PA
Two Step Sons: Steven
Green of Tennessee and Jeff Baker of Bradford, PA
Two Sisters-in-Law:
Joann Waid and Cherrie Inman of Ulysses, PA.
Visitation will be held
from 6-8 on Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, 105 N Main
St. Port Allegany, PA where funeral and committal service will be held at 11am
Saturday, June 7, 2014, with the Rev Michael Culver, pastor of the
First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating.
Burial will be in the
Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Military Honors will
be accorded by the Port Allegany Honor Guard at the funeral home.
