Week of the Young Child

CARE's Preschool Playgroup celebrated Week of the Young Child (April 6 - 12) which is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  The celebration focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.  There was a special presentation about car safety followed by a visit by  Borough Manager, Dick Kallenborn, who read the children a book. Mr. Kallenborn received a warm welcome from the members of the playgroup, especially from the little girl who calls him "Grandpa".   The children also received a book to take home.  The group was dressed in purple, the official color of the Week of the Young Child.  The Playgroup meets in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Social Hall.  Pictured with Mr. Kallenborn are Jackson Young, Kaitlyn Kallenborn, Tessa Rendos and Ryan Carlson.  Pam Fischer Photo
