The Lost Sock Laundry solution was
found, a major truancy case was solved, a stolen plate turned up in New York
City, there was a lockdown and bus search at the Career and Technical Center,
and a combative juvenile was transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Those and other matters were among the
services performed by the Port Allegany Police Department in the week that
began Monday, February 17.
Last Tuesday at noon Officer Adam
Dickerson was notified by a truck driver that he inadvertently had slid his rig
into the Evangelical Covenant Church parking lot while trying to make the turn
into the Dollar General delivery alley. The driver said he was reporting the
incident in case the church reported finding damage. Dickerson did not observe
any damage.
At 4 p.m. Dickerson interviewed subjects
concerning the broken glass on a vending machine at the Lost Sock Laundry,
reported the previous week. A subject with the surname Orlowski admitted having
caused the damage, and will be charged after police receive the estimate of the
cost of repair. The officer did not provide any other information concerning
the defendant.
Last Wednesday at 10:25 a.m. Chief Dave
Distrola observed a minor motor vehicle accident in which Randy Burgett of
Austin ran a 2001 GMC truck into the back of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee operated by
Cleveland Sengle of Smethport. Sengle had slowed or stopped for a plow truck,
and Burgett indicated that he had got into loose gravel or salt on the road and
slid into the back of the Cherokee. The drivers were instructed to exchange
information and contact their insurance companies.
At 11:55 a.m. Distrola unlocked a motor
vehicle for a motorist at Rite Aid.
At 12:04 p.m. Distrola was dispatched
to the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center to conduct a search of
students on a school bus from Coudersport High School. It was reported that a
.22 caliber bullet had been found in the hallway of the school and a lockdown
had been initiated. Distrola did not find any bullets or weapons in his search.
At 3:45 p.m. Distrola was called to
Frances Avenue for a report of a low hanging utility wire. He placed a yellow
caution ribbon on the wire and notified Zito Media.
Thursday at 12:09
a.m. Officer Kyle Day was dispatched to 8
Liberty Lane to check on a reported disturbance. Upon arrival he learned that a
15-year-old was out of control and combative. Day transported the juvenile to
Bradford Regional Medical Center.
At 8:05 a.m. Chief Distrola was
contacted about a vehicle parked in a private parking lot on Church Street. The
caller was advised to have the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.
At 11:10 a.m. Distrola received a call
from a Lillibridge Creek Road resident about a parking violation charge
received from New York City. Distrola told the caller that the parking
violation notice was not a scam, and that the caller should contact
Pennsylvania State Police to report his stolen or mislaid plate that had shown
up on a vehicle in New York City.
At 12:14 p.m. Distrola received a report of a
suspected child abuse matter in which a three-year-old and a four-year-old
allege that a known 13-year-old has assaulted them. The incident is under
investigation.
Friday at 3:30
p.m. Distrola was informed that a
16-year-old male had been absent from school all week and had not been home
since the previous Thursday. The juvenile was located and held until his mother
picked him up.
Saturday at 6:24
p.m. Officer Tony Tanner received a call
about a lost dog. Paul Green stated that he had lost a small black dog named
McKenna. It is unknown whether the dog has been found, or has come home, or is
still missing.
At 7:49 p.m. Tanner received a
complaint of harassment from a Brooklynside resident. He told the caller to
contact PSP.
Sunday at 1:41
a.m. Tanner transported a male to BRMC in
connection with an unspecified mental health issue.
