Pitt-Bradford hospitality students sponsor drive for hygiene products

BRADFORD, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s hospitality management program is holding a drive to collect hygiene products that help prevent the spread of bacteria and disease.

Donations of wrapped soap can be made at various buildings on campus and branches of Northwest Savings Bank or soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion or other items can be brought to Veterans Square in Bradford between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 3.

The HOSP Club will be providing a complimentary lunch, and students from the Service and Leadership class will be taking product donations and asking visitors to help assemble hygiene kits to be shared with Destinations Bradford and the YWCA.

In addition to the local drive, hospitality management students are also working with local hotels to support Clean the World, a nonprofit charity that collects soap and shampoo from hotels and other sources to be recycled and distributed to homeless shelters in the United States and others in need around the world.

The World Health Organization says that one-third of the diseases that kill children under the age of 5 could be prevented by simple hand washing with bar soap.
